How To Deal With Rudeness Elegantly

How do we deal with rudeness, the mean short words of others, even the verbal attack of someone and do it elegantly?

I think it is safe to say that dealing with rudeness is one of the top 5 hardest things to do elegantly.

Rudeness from others can be disarming, and can instantly steal your peace, especially if you are not accustom to it.

But don’t worry here are 5 hacks you can keep up your sleeve or in your purse for dealing with rudeness elegantly!

#1 Way to Handle Rudeness: Identify

In a our world we have many facets to the word (world). There’s our daily world, our social media world, and our virtual worlds.

In which world are you experiencing the rudeness?

If you are being mistreated in the world of social media for instance, you would deal with that experience much differently then you would if you experienced the same comment at the grocery store.

#2 Way To Handle Rudeness: Ignore

Okay, before you click the back button and high tail it outta here let me explain. I’m not telling you to ignore you’re feelings, or be the bigger person. I’m telling you that to deal with rudeness elegantly sometimes it is necessary to not even engage in the moment. This can be done when the rudeness is coming from places that don’t actually effect our lives, such as social media. When someone is being rude to us on social media or in a part of the our world that doesn’t really effect our lives, then it is okay to ignore the comments or actions completely. These people mean nothing to you.

Engaging in negativity and rudeness is opening up the door and letting people in who cannot behave in a proper and elegant manner.

In our quest for elegance and beauty in all we do as beautiful woman and moms of Christ, it is VERY important that you do not let this behavior in. That you keep you “doors” closed to this manner of behaving.

If this is not the case, and you can’t possibly ignore it any longer than here are some.

#3 Way To Handle Rudeness: Evaluate

Next, we need to evaluate the person. Is this person a relative? Someone we respect and love? Or is this person a stranger, someone who has no barring on our live and choices.

Is this person normal or crazy?

If this person is someone who is close to you, or you “know” this can be alarming to experience rudeness. So it is important to try to quickly evaluate this persons mental state and relevance to you.

#4 Way To Handle Rudeness: Tools

Now you can begin to elegantly respond to the rudeness in whatever manner or form is appropriate to the situation.

  • Ignoring is the best and most elegant way to respond to rudeness. Hands down. Responding is only engaging and becoming apart of the rudeness.
  • However, if you absolutely must respond you can turn it into a joke
  • Smile and keep your attitude to a minimum so that you do not express rudeness and fall into the same trap
  • You can call them out. You don’t want to let people walk all over you, sometimes calling people out on their rudeness is necessary. Just be sure to do it in a way that gets your point across. Also be sure to never be a victim
  • Don’t let other people’s rudeness get bottled up inside you. It’s necessary to get it out. Write it down, get all your frustrations out on paper
  • It’s easy to want to lash out in anger, however if you take time to reflect your responses can be even more effective
  • Stay calm and composed
  • Be direct and assertive when responding
  • Cut people some slack. You have no idea what might be happening in their lives to cause them to be rude.
  • Finally remember hurting people hurt people so take the person and their their circumstances into account. If you don’t know that person, then their lives and attitudes are complete mysteries.

Remember, it doesn’t matter who’s rude first. As an elegant beautiful woman it is your job to be the light that person needs to shine on their flaw and help them see that they shouldn’t have said or done that. If you succumb to the rudeness, you’re just as guilty. That is why it is so important to have tools ready and be elegantly prepared to respond to rudeness.

We all face rude people from time to time. Sometimes we ourselves are even guilty of being rude to someone.

It’s okay.

We’re all human and at the end of the day I like to believe that everyone is doing the best they can with what they have.
